Being called to serve on jury duty this 4th of July week reminded me of the importance of service in our country and how it takes many forms.
Jury duty – something many adults try to avoid - is an essential service that keeps our country functioning.
Service shows up everywhere:
→ Jury duty and civic responsibilities
→ Career choices in public and social sectors
→ Military service
→ Volunteering in communities
→ Political engagement and running for office
→ Standing up for beliefs, and even through protests
This year has made one thing clear: whether we like it or not, it's in our hands.
We won’t agree on every topic — nor should we. But the systems we have created, however imperfect, exist to equip and enable our country to function.
Jury duty reminded me that we can't complain about how things work if we're not willing to participate in making them work.
It got me thinking about how much responsibility we can, and should, accept as individuals and as citizens. And how I choose to serve and engage.
What forms of service inspire you most?
